Wild bergamot (Monarda fistulosa) is a hardy, native perennial that adds beauty and charm to any garden. Thriving in dry soils across prairies, rocky woodlands, and open fields, this member of the mint family grows in lovely clumps, typically reaching 2 to 4 feet tall.
With its soft lavender blooms and fragrant foliage, wild bergamot is perfect for herb gardens, wildflower meadows, and naturalized landscapes. While it may not be as vibrant as its cousin Monarda didyma, it still brings wonderful contrast and texture to perennial borders.
