The jostaberry (Ribes × nidigrolaria) is a fascinating hybrid fruit bush resulting from a cross between blackcurrant (R. nigrum) and North American coastal black gooseberry (R. divaricatum).

This hardy, deciduous shrub produces small purple flowers in late spring, followed by red-black berries.These berries are similar in size to gooseberries but boast a richer, sweeter flavor.
